  Want To Be A RUF/NEK?

This is Pledge Class 2000.   Starting from Top Right (Colin Doherty, Chad Whitaker, Brent East, Jamie Thibodeau)  Bottom Left (Tim Healy, Matt Babcock, Brian Harmon) Not Pictured Ryan Maxwell or Chris Becher.

So you want to be a RUF/NEK and you don't know where to start. Well this is the place for you.

To join the Oklahoma RUF/NEKS, you must first attend the informational meeting held every year at the beginning of the fall semester. We call it "The Smoker".  This event will be publicized by flyers and sidewalk chalking done early in the fall semester.  At that meeting you will learn some fast facts about the club and its members. This is when you should sign up for an interview. A party usually follows the Smoker.

The interviews allow the officers to learn about you and your background. After all of the interviews are complete, the officers select the few young men that they think will help our club grow. If you are one of those men, you will be invited to attend our next meeting.

At the next meeting, you begin your education process on history of the University and the club. Test are given each meeting to allow the members to evaluate your pledge class's progress. After your class has successfully completed the requirements, you become a member of the Oklahoma RUF/NEKS.

After you become a RUF/NEK, you must maintain you knowledge of the University and the club. Test are given even when you become a member. Members attend football games where we are caretakers of the Sooner Schooner, RUF/NEK Shotguns, and the giant OU Flag. Members also attend volleyball, basketball, and baseball games and show support by making a lot of noise.
