Rugby is a very different game then American football. For starters, the only protection players wear is a small padded helmet (and this is optional). Below are a few important laws as well as some links to indepth law explanation.

1.) A player may only pass the ball backwards.

2.) Once a player is tackeled to the ground, they must release the ball.

3.) To score a point a player must touch the ball into the end zone to score a try (touch down).

4.) After a try is scored, a conversion may be attempted to score another 2 points (kicking the extra point).

5.) At any time a player may try to kick the ball through the uprights to ear his team 3 points.

6.) If a penality is called, a penality kick is awarded. A penalty kick is worth 3 points if kicked through the uprights.
