Logos

Visual identity plays an important role in shaping the institutional image of the University of Oklahoma. The more consistently the graphic elements are used, the stronger the visual identity. The stronger the visual identity and use of consistent labeling, the greater the awareness and recognition of the university.

The most important principles in generating name recognition are consistency, frequency and repetition over time. Therefore, despite various preferences among our users, it is critical that the university, and its departments, adopt a consistent use of OU's official logo and wordmark.

The OU logo may appear in crimson, reversed out on a dark background, or in black. The logo should never be altered, animated, or appear in any other color. Anytime an OU logo is displayed, it should link back to the OU home page.

The OU seal is generally reserved for official university documents. Care should always be taken when displaying the seal to maintain its integrity. The seal should never be animated or written over and should always be displayed at the highest quality. It should not be used as a background image for any Web site. Writing over the seal destroys the integrity of the mark.

The Sooner Schooner is most appropriately used for athletics-related Web sites.
