About the OU Trombone Choir

Trombone Choir meets every Tuesday in the Band Room (Catlett Room 116) from 4:30-6:00. The class is open to any trombone player, and may be taken for an hour of credit. The Trombone Choir traditionally has around three performances per semester in Catlett Music Center, as well as many community performances throughout the greater Oklahoma City area.

In the spring of 2006, the OU Trombone Choir had the opportunity to perform at both the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Conference in Tulsa and the Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio. The Trombone Choir also had the honor of performing at Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral of Los Angeles, California during the 2005 American Choral Directors Association Convention, as well as the International Trombone Festival in 2002 (Denton) and 2001 (Nashville).

In the past few years the OU Trombone Choir has hosted such well known artists as the Brazilian Trombone Ensemble, Trombones de Costa Rica, the legendary Ronald Barron, Viento Sur Trombone Quartet from Argentina, New Zealand Trombonist Rodger Fox with special guest Erna Ferry, and Jacques Mauger from the Paris Conservatory.

The trombone choir is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary. Dr. Wagner started the group when he began teaching at OU 40 years ago.
