| UOBS is located on the north shore of Lake Texoma (Oklahoma-Texas border), approximately 2 hours south of the main campus in Norman. This is the first university-affiliated research facility to be established on a man-made lake. |
The dedication of the University of Oklahoma Biological Station was held on October 28, 1950 at WIllis, Okla. The dedication ceremony was presided over by the President of the University of Oklahoma, G.L. Cross and music was provided by the the OU band. Other dignitaries/speakers included Joe W. McBride, President of the Board of Regents; Senator Raymond Gary; Representative Paul Harkey; Dr. C. W. Rowland; and Carl D. Riggs, director of the Biological Station.
