| UOBS is located on the north shore of Lake Texoma (Oklahoma-Texas border), approximately 2 hours south of the main campus in Norman. This is the first university-affiliated research facility to be established on a man-made lake.
We are a separate budgetary unit and an organized research unit of the College of Arts & Sciences, with close affiliations to the Department of Zoology, Department of Botany/Microbiology, Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History and the Oklahoma Biological Survey. |

| The dedication of the University of Oklahoma Biological Station was held on October 28, 1950 at WIllis, Okla. The dedication ceremony was presided over by the President of the University of Oklahoma, G.L. Cross and music was provided by the the OU band. Other dignitaries/speakers included Joe W. McBride, President of the Board of Regents; Senator Raymond Gary; Representative Paul Harkey; Dr. C. W. Rowland and Carl D. Riggs, director of the Biological Station. |
UOBS is one of the founding members of the Organization of Biological Field Stations. We hosted the annual meeting in September 2001. The annual meeting for 2009 will be hosted by La Selva Biological Station, Costa Rica.
