David Sibley, noted ornithologist and featured speaker, will be helping us raise funds to support the Station by leading two special field birding trips and giving our main address. Numbers on each trip are limited and will be filled on a first come-first served basis. Advice on dressing for field trips: Our local guide recommends that the Tishomingo trip participants consider the following preparations to minimize tick bites (Lyme and Ehrlichiosis), mosquito bites (West Nile, etc.). The advice applies for both field trips. 1. Wear long light-colored pants (better to see ticks). We will need to tuck pant bottoms into socks (tick protection). Also suggest light colored long sleeved shirt tucked into pants (tick protection). 2. Boots needed. Please check weather, as rubber boots (Wellies) may be best if it has been wet. You can check with the Tishomingo Wildlife Refuge at (580) 371-2402 for last minute weather info and recommendations on footgear in the Refuge. You can also check with UOBS about weather/ground conditions at the Station. 3. Bring tick and mosquito repellant to spray onto clothing. 4. Poison ivy is present on the refuge and around the Station. |
Another highlight of the meeting will be the auction on Saturday evening. The following is a link to photos and descriptions of some of the items that will be available: Photos of auction items
There will be many items available on a first- come-first served basis in library. Other items will be in a silent auction that will end before the live auction begins.
