The station's Independent study program allows student's to design and carry out their own projects.
INDEPENDENT STUDY PROGRAM AT UOBS
An independent study program is available year around at the University of Oklahoma Biological Station, but only through special approval and prior arrangement with a faculty member of the University of Oklahoma. The faculty member may be a "resident" faculty member of UOBS or a faculty member from another department in which applicable research might be supervised. A student will design and carry out a project in consultation with the sponsoring faculty member and prepare a formal written proposal and must plan their work well in advance. Upon completion of the project a final written report is required.
Students may enroll through UOBS or the department of the sponsoring faculty member. Students enrolling through the station may enroll in Zoology 4990 or 5990. Section numbers will vary depending on the sponsoring faculty member.
Students that plan to enroll through another department and use the station's facilities should submit a request for space and use of equipment to the station's director:
Lawrence J. Weider, Professor and Director of UOBS
730 Van Vleet Oval
Norman, OK 73019-6121
If you have questions related specifically to research facilities/equipment available at UOBS, please contact:
