Apply today to be a UOSA Peer Mentor!
The applications are due February 24 at 5:00pm.
The UOSA Academic Peer Mentoring program is an informal mentoring network for OU students. This program provides insight for students from a student’s perspective regarding curriculum, policies, and resources. It is an internet based question system that allows students the option of having follow-up meetings with peer mentors face to face. You can visit our website at http://uosa.ou.edu/mentoring/. Our vision is for Academic Peer Mentoring to become an integral part of the advising team and student body, unifying the university as a whole. We envision students collaborating with faculty and staff to serve their peers.
UOSA Academic Peer Mentors are sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are knowledgeable of the OU campus, its resources, and services. Once selected as an UOSA Academic Peer Mentor, you will be required to complete an in-depth training session. As an UOSA Academic Peer Mentor, you are more than a role model for many students; you will assist students as they transition from the University College to the other colleges of OU, as well as offer advice in the following areas:
Major-minor course planning
Course prerequisites
Faculty expectations
Classes and options for study in the major
Careers and graduate programs
Major-related clubs and organizations
Departmental procedures and policies
Internships, scholarships, and, summer job opportunities.
I hope this sounds as exciting to you as it does to me. I encourage you to read the following qualifications and apply to become a part of this team. After submitting your application, you will be contacted about an interview; I look forward to meeting you then. Thank you for your interest in this program.
Best wishes,
Kevi Brown
