Student Organizations

DEADLINE: In order to receive the benefits of Registered Student Organization status (partial funding, office space allocation, etc.), student organizations must complete the online registration with Center for Student Life at the Student Life Website . The deadline is FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2010.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Want to get involved? Joining a student organization is a great way to meet other students at the University of Oklahoma with the same interests as you. Check out this page on the Student Life website for a list of current student organizations.

The UOSA’s General Counsel’s Office reviews student organization constitutions to ensure compliance with the University of Oklahoma Student Code and UOSA Constitution. The General Counsel’s Office uses six main criteria to determine compliance with University rules and regulations. The General Counsel may advise student organizations concerning the six criteria used to evaluate constitutions and how to effectively comply with the requirements.

Please note that a copy of the current constitution must be submitted to the Center for Student Life by Friday, September 18, in order to be eligible for the benefits of registration, including access to funds and participation in campus activities. Registration materials may be found on the Student Life website. Constitutions may be submitted electronically, but registration must also be fully completed. Because constitution requirements have been updated recently, please do not send a previous copy of your organization's constitution without checking to make sure that it meets all requirements.

Student Organization Requirements & Model Constitution: Click here (PDF format) or here (Word format) to learn more about the criteria used to evaluate student organization constitutions and to view a model constitution that student organizations may use to write their own constitution. The Model Constitution includes the requisite clauses as well as suggestions for other pertinent information an organization may wish to include, such as officer responsibilities, meetings guidelines, and amendment procedures.
