Christopher McNally joined the East-West Center in the year 2000. As a political economist focusing on the institutions of capitalism, his primary research interests include the nature and logic of China’s capitalist transition in historical perspective; China's economic, financial and enterprise reforms with an emphasis on the rapid development of Chinese private firms; and the implications of China’s growing economic power on East Asian geopolitics and geoeconomics. Dr. McNally has had research fellowships at the Asia Research Centre, Murdoch University, West Australia and the Institute of Asia Pacific Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as two years of fieldwork under the auspices of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. He received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Washington. He has authored numerous publications, including most recently in The China Quarterly, Business and Politics, and The Journal of E-Government. |
