YUAN Peng is currently an associate fellow and Deputy Director of Institute for American Studies, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), Beijing. He is also adjunct professor in University of International Relations, Beijing. He got his Ph.D. in American Western and Immigrant History from Northeast Normal University in 1997 and M.A. in American History from East China Normal University in 1991. He was a lecturer at the Department of History in Hubei University (Wuhan) from 1991 to 1994. He served as a visiting scholar of the Senior Fellow Program at the Atlantic Council form December 1999 to June 2000, and is now a visiting fellow at the CNAPS  Program (Center for Northeast Asian Policy Studies) of the Brookings Institution from September 2003 to June 2004. His research focuses on U.S. Foreign Policy, Sino-U.S. Relations, Cross-Strait Relations. He has published dozens of articles on those topics including several English articles published by the Brookings Institution and CSIS.  His latest book is American Think-Tanks and Their Attitudes Toward China (co-editor, 2003).
