Allen Carlson is an assistant professor in the Government Department at Cornell University.  In 2000 he completed his dissertation, "The Lock on China's Door: Chinese Foreign Policy and the Norm of State Sovereignty" in the Political Science Department at Yale University, and is now revising the manuscript for publication.  Professor Carlson has also recently contributed a piece to the China Policy Series published by the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and has an article forthcoming in the Journal of Contemporary China.  In addition, he is co-editing (with JJ Suh and Peter Katzenstein) a volume on Asian security.  His current research interests include international relations theory, Asian security, and Chinese foreign relations.
