Jin Canrong is currently a senior fellow in the Institute of American Studies (IAS) under Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Trained in political science, he got his Ph.D. from Beijing University, MA from the Graduate School of CASS, and BA from the Department of International Studies at Fudan University. He used to be a visiting scholar at Columbia University at New York (1993.9-1994.10) and at the Rutgers University of New Jersey (1999.10-11). His intellectual interests include the studies of the US Congress, intergovernmental relations in America, civil society and democracy, and Sino-US relations, etc. In all the areas mentioned above, he contributed quite a lot publications (but mainly in Chinese). His other positions include:  Deputy Director, Beijing Pacific Institute for International Strategy Studies (the first non-governmental research institute in the field of international relations in China);  Deputy Director, Center for American Studies, People’s University of China; Special Adviser, Research Bureau of National People’s Congress of China;  Executive editor-in-chief, Pacific Journal, an academic quarterly published by the Pacific Society of China, etc.
