Shiping Tang is Senior Fellow at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Prior to his current
appointment, he was associate research fellow of the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, China. His most recent publications include “A Systemic Theory of the Security Environment,” Journal of Strategic Studies
(lead article, Vol. 27, No. 1, 2004) and “Reputation, Cult of Reputation, and International Conflict,” Security Studies (Vol. 14, No. 1, 2005). He is working on a book manuscript on the grand theories of international politics.
