David D. Gries spent over three decades working in the Central Intelligence Agency. From 1963 through 1981, he served in American embassies and consulates in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and China. Gries later also served as CIA Director of Congressional Affairs and as vice chairman of the National Intelligence Council.
