Description: Best Friends is working to end pet overpopulation through SNAP, our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program serving the entire metro area, by providing free pet ID tags to all pet parents, and by helping homeless pets find loving, caring homes at our adoption outreaches.

Volunteers Needed: Help with adoption outreaches at PetsMart and other locations by showing pets and assisting potential adopters, help with special events such as our Festival of the Pet and other events that occur throughout the year. Also needed is a website designer and maintenance.

 

HEARTLAND RABBIT RESCUE

Description: We provide a safe haven for rabbits that have been abused, neglected or abandoned
Volunteers Needed: Feeding, watering and grooming. Take rabbits out to the play areas for exercise. Although some will always remain with us our goal is to find the adoptable ones good homes. Some need quality time and TLC to learn to trust again to become adoption candidates. Seasonal projects such as the herb and vegetable garden provide much needed sources of fresh greens for the rabbits. Help with fund raising projects.


LITTLE RIVER ZOO

Description: Zoo that is home to nearly 400 animals.

Volunteers Needed: Please contact the zoo for current volunteer opportunities. Must show current TB test and have a current tetanus shot.

Description: Largest Animal Shelter in the state. We have made the goal of reaching "NO Kill" by 2010.

Volunteers Needed: Need volunteers for special events, foster care, adoptions, adoption outreaches, dog-walking, dog-training, rescue program.

 

OKLAHOMA WILDLIFE FEDERATION

Description: Advocates wildlife management and conservation.

Volunteers Needed: Assist with program planning, fundraising, publicity, or landscape design, organize book drives for the library, conduct legal research regarding conservation issues, help staff a booth at wildlife shows, educate the public about conservation issues, promote membership, and sell merchandise.

 

PETS & PEOPLE HUMANE SOCIETY

Description: Pets & People Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill humane society that rescues adoptable cats and dogs from municipal animal control facilities across the state of Oklahoma on the day they are to be euthanized. We provide a safe harbor for our pets until they are adopted into responsible, loving homes. All are spayed or neutered to help end the vicious cycle of homeless pets.
Volunteers Needed: Walk, groom and socialize dogs, groom and socialize cats, transport cats for adoption to Petsmart stores, answer phones, pick up donated food as needed (we provide a van).


SECOND CHANCE ANIMAL SANCTUARY

Description: Houses, rehabilitates, cares for, and adopts out stray, abandoned and abused dogs and cats.

Volunteers Needed: Walk, train, and bathe dogs, groom and socialize cats, visit the ill, elderly and disadvantaged youth with pet assisted therapy program, work off-site at adoption events, visit local schools to assist in teaching human education presentations, cuddle room helpers, fundraiser's, and office work.

 

WILDCARE FOUNDATION

Description: A rehabilitation facility dedicated to rescuing, raising, and releasing 3,600 injured or orphaned native wildlife each year. We have a strong education and medical aspect in addition to the daily feeding and cleaning of 125 species.

Volunteers Needed: You are involved in all aspects of animal care, medical, food preparation, releases along with conflict resolution with wildlife and the public. Minimum commitment of three hours per week for three months.
