Volunteers Needed:  Help is needed in the Transitional Housing program for maintenance, make-ready, clean units. Etc.  We are also interested in volunteer group projects geared towards empowering the children in our Transitional Housing program.

Description: Delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war poverty or natural disasters.

Volunteers Needed: Help with mass mailings, process warehouse inventory, assist with telethons; tend collection containers at food drives, pack food, and personal care boxes.

Volunteers Needed: Help prepare and / or serve food for noon-time meals and clean up, help with holiday parties, and help move residents from the shelter into a home.

Description: An organization that provides assistance to low income families with food, prescriptions, utilities, clothing, gasoline, and bus passes.

Volunteers Needed: Help sort and display donated clothing, household goods, etc. Help in the office, answer phones, work the reception desk, stock groceries and fill food orders for clients.

Description: Provides education and family support for homeless and very low-income children and their families with the goal of breaking the cycle of homelessness - one family at a time. We serve children Kindergarten through 5th grade with regular school-day classes, and their parents with special Parent Education Center programs.

Volunteers Needed: Individual opportunities as tutor/mentor for individual students, classroom assistant (needs to be consistent, like once a week for a given period of time), or sharing gifts and talents with kids in a group setting or special activities.

Description: Helps the charitable community in 50 counties in Oklahoma effectively feed people in need.

Volunteers Needed: Sort, box and repackage food products, work at one of the Food Bank’s fundraiser's such as “The Chef’s Feast” (June), the National Letter Carrier’s Food Drive (May), and “Students Against Hunger” (during OU Football season).

Description: Offers emergency assistance by providing food, shelter, clothing and personal assistance to individuals and families.

Volunteers Needed: Assist in the office or in cleaning the lodge and warehouse area and make food bags.

Description: An agency of the United Methodist Church that engages with and cares for the poor of the OKC metro area. We are committed to treating the symptoms and addressing the causes of poverty in our city.

Volunteers Needed: Every week, Monday through Friday, we need volunteers to staff our food pantry from 12:30 to 2pm and/or help stock shelves in the morning. Clothes closet needs volunteers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s until 2pm. Volunteer groups needed weekly to prepare meals for approximately 100 and to serve it. Seasonal opportunities in August (Clothes for Kids) and December (Christmas Grace). Volunteers also needed to work with our unique "Jets" after school and summer programs with elementary and middle school children.

 

TRAVELERS AID AND HOMELESS ASSISTANCE CENTER

Description: The mission is to elevate the homeless and needy to a position of self sufficiency. Travelers Aid provides case management, transitional housing, and direct support services which include transportation assistance, rent and utilities assistance, job referrals, food and prescription assistance.

Volunteers Needed: Organize and manage food pantry. Data entry needed as well.
