Volunteers Needed: Help is needed in the Transitional Housing program for maintenance, make-ready, clean units. Etc. We are also interested in volunteer group projects geared towards empowering the children in our Transitional Housing program.

California OKC, OK 73106 Description: Provides health, safety, physical and spiritual help to the poor by giving hope, demonstrating God’s love, and assisting them to become independent, dignified and productive members of our community. Volunteers Needed: Help at reception desk, tutor adults and children, mentor, maintain clothing room and medical and dental volunteers needed as well.
EAST MAIN PLACE 447-4663 Christy Blair 1100 E. Main Norman, OK 73070 Description: Offers transitional housing, comprehensive support for the homeless. Volunteers Needed: Room preparation, sort donations, painting and special projects.
FEED THE CHILDREN 949-5168 Aaron Wynn 29 N. McCormick OKC, OK 73127 Description: Delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war poverty or natural disasters. Volunteers Needed: Help with mass mailings, process warehouse inventory, assist with telethons; tend collection containers at food drives, pack food, and personal care boxes.
FOOD & SHELTER FOR FRIENDS 360-4954 Lois Singleton 104 W. Comanche Norman, OK 73069 Description: Seeks to feed the hungry and house the homeless in the Norman community. Volunteers Needed: Help prepare and / or serve food for noon-time meals and clean up, help with holiday parties, and help move residents from the shelter into a home.
MEALS ON WHEELS 321-7272 Lynn Haynes 1173 E. Main Norman, OK 73071 Description: Offers nutritious, hot meals to the ill, elderly, and disabled, along with a friendly visit. Volunteers Needed: Deliver or be on call to deliver noontime meals, answer phones and perform other clerical work in the office. Help with special events.
NEIGHBOR FOR NEIGHBOR 236-0473 Linda Bortka 300 SW 13th St. OKC, OK 73109 Description: An organization that provides assistance to low income families with food, prescriptions, utilities, clothing, gasoline, and bus passes. Volunteers Needed: Help sort and display donated clothing, household goods, etc. Help in the office, answer phones, work the reception desk, stock groceries and fill food orders for clients.
POSITIVE TOMORROWS 556-5082 Char Carter or Amber Freudenberger P.O. Box 61190 OKC, OK 73146 Description: Provides education and family support for homeless and very low-income children and their families with the goal of breaking the cycle of homelessness - one family at a time. We serve children Kindergarten through 5th grade with regular school-day classes, and their parents with special Parent Education Center programs. Volunteers Needed: Individual opportunities as tutor/mentor for individual students, classroom assistant (needs to be consistent, like once a week for a given period of time), or sharing gifts and talents with kids in a group setting or special activities.
REGIONAL FOOD BANK OF OKLAHOMA 604-7110 Steve Musch 3355 S. Purdue OKC, OK 73179 Description: Helps the charitable community in 50 counties in Oklahoma effectively feed people in need. Volunteers Needed: Sort, box and repackage food products, work at one of the Food Bank’s fundraiser's such as “The Chef’s Feast” (June), the National Letter Carrier’s Food Drive (May), and “Students Against Hunger” (during OU Football season).
SALVATION ARMY 364-9910 Captain John Reynolds 318 E. Hayes Norman, OK 73069 Description: Offers emergency assistance by providing food, shelter, clothing and personal assistance to individuals and families. Volunteers Needed: Assist in the office or in cleaning the lodge and warehouse area and make food bags.
SKYLINE URBAN MINISTRY 632-2644 Dale Tremper 500 SE 15th St. OKC, OK 73129 Description: An agency of the United Methodist Church that engages with and cares for the poor of the OKC metro area. We are committed to treating the symptoms and addressing the causes of poverty in our city. Volunteers Needed: Every week, Monday through Friday, we need volunteers to staff our food pantry from 12:30 to 2pm and/or help stock shelves in the morning. Clothes closet needs volunteers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s until 2pm. Volunteer groups needed weekly to prepare meals for approximately 100 and to serve it. Seasonal opportunities in August (Clothes for Kids) and December (Christmas Grace). Volunteers also needed to work with our unique "Jets" after school and summer programs with elementary and middle school children.
TRAVELERS AID AND HOMELESS ASSISTANCE CENTER 232-5507 Laurie Barbour 1033 N. Walker Ave. OKC, OK 73102 Description: The mission is to elevate the homeless and needy to a position of self sufficiency. Travelers Aid provides case management, transitional housing, and direct support services which include transportation assistance, rent and utilities assistance, job referrals, food and prescription assistance. Volunteers Needed: Organize and manage food pantry. Data entry needed as well.
