Description: Assists elderly, and/or their caregivers, living in Cleveland County with in-home services and assistance. We provide home-delivered meals, housekeeping, transportation, minor home repairs, visits, yard projects, respite, case management, and special assistance with utilities, fans, shelf-stable food, eye care, dental care, etc.

Volunteers Needed: Deliver meals, go to grocery store, drive clients to medical appointments, assist with home maintenance (i.e., mow lawns, paint houses), help fill out insurance / Medicare forms, and pay bills.

Description: Carter Hospice provides medical, social, emotional, and spiritual support to comfort patients with terminal illness and their families.

Volunteers Needed: Offering your time in a flexible environment to assist our patients and their families by doing any of the following: providing companionship to our patients, offering caregiver relief for our patient's families and/or loved ones, running errands, walking dogs, or providing light housekeeping. If you would like experience in office clerical work we have opportunities for you! Are you creative and love the arts? Come help us with our special arts and crafts projects for our patients! Volunteer training is provided, no prior experience is necessary.

Volunteer Positions needed:

1. Direct Patient Volunteer: This volunteer works in direct contact with hospice patient and family. It can be centered around relational conversation, therapeutic music, therapeutic pet, therapeutic touch and caregiver break. Company furnishes TB test and training.

2. Administrative Volunteer: This volunteer works in our offices helping staff in filing, training prep. and answering phones. Training is provided by company.

3. Indirect Patient Volunteer: This volunteer has no contact with patient or office staff except for the volunteer coordinator. These volunteers often create craft items such as knitting, quilting and crochet for the patients. These items improve the quality of life for our patients and are very much appreciated.

Description: Provides adult day health care for individuals with chronic physical and mental impairments such as post-stroke conditions, arthritis, cardiovascular conditions, depression, social isolation, and dementia.

Volunteers Needed: Be a greeter, answer busy phones at the front desk, become part of the in-house TV crew, assist residents in Bingo, assist residents to Chapel on Sundays, one on one visits, etc.

Description: Provides social and therapeutic activities to frail or memory impaired elderly individuals.

Volunteers Needed: Provide general companionship to elderly individuals visiting the day center; assist with activities such as sing-a-longs, crafts, exercise, table games, puzzles, manicures, hairstyling, assist with fundraising and kitchen help. Help decorate for special events, joining an outing with participants, office assistance, marketing and acquiring donations.

LIFECARE OKLAHOMA

 

Description:  Lifecare is comprised of 3 different companies:  Home Health, Hospice, and Personal Services.  Between these three companies we serve a wide variety of healthcare needs with different goals, ranging from curative nursing care at home, personal (non-medical) care at home to Hospice end of life palliative care.

Volunteer Opportunities:  At Lifecare Oklahoma our volunteer program lies under the umbrella of our Hospice Company. The Hospice team is not only made up of professional medical staff, but also includes the services of a Chaplain, Bereavement Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Social Worker, and Dietician.  The opportunities for volunteer service include:  1. Description: We improve the living conditions of low-income elderly homeowners in the Oklahoma City metro area by making repairs and modifications to their home. We utilize the labor of thousands of volunteers, in-kind materials and donations to make these repairs throughout the year and on the annual April Work Day.

Volunteers Needed: Help needed with common repairs such as replacing windows and doors, installing locks, repairing leaky roofs, fixing minor plumbing and electrical problems, painting, installing siding, trash removal, general clean-up, building ramps, installing grab bars and handrails, and other accessibility modifications.

WILL ROGERS PARK SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER

Description: An activity center designed for seniors, ages 55+, with 40-50 regularly scheduled classes, group meetings, activities and events for over 1500 seniors each month.

Volunteers Needed: Office work, filing, data entry, receptionist, play games, help in the kitchen and custodial clean up; as well as gardening the flower beds. Need instructors for a variety of classes which include arts & crafts, ceramics, flower arrangements, athletics, performing arts, piano or dance lessons, singing and acting, writing, and dog obedience. A security check is required for all volunteers.
