Your Rights as a Volunteer
Many agencies are always in need of volunteers and are very grateful for the help. As a volunteer, you have the right:
To be treated as a co-worker, not just free help.
- To know as much about the organization as possible – its policies, people and programs.
- To receive a job description.
- To train for the job and continue education on the job – including training for greater responsibility.
- To receive sound guidance and direction.
- To leave, if you ever feel uncomfortable.
- To decline work that is not acceptable to you; maintain an open mind with regard to other people's standards and values.
