OU Holds Ribbon Cutting for the Ernst & Young Energy Accounting Center

Posted on October 2, 2009.

The Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Steed School of Accounting, second floor of Adams Hall, 307 W. Brooks St., Monday, Oct. 5, to commemorate the new Ernst & Young Energy Accounting Center. The public ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. with representatives from Ernst & Young, OU and the Price College of Business on hand for the event.

The $500,000 gift from Ernst & Young Foundation provides for the development of the Ernst & Young Energy Accounting Center, which will be utilized to host learning study hall events and other hands-on learning activities for accounting students on current topics, including energy and international accounting. The gift also created five permanently endowed scholarships to be awarded each year beginning this semester, the Ernst & Young Fellow program and the development of energy accounting courses, also starting this semester.

More than 100 OU alumni currently work throughout the United States for Ernst & Young. The Ernst & Young Focus on Energy Accounting program will help meet the growing demand for graduates specifically trained in the growing field of energy accounting.

The Ernst & Young Foundation was formed in 1937 to provide effective and meaningful philanthropic support to institutions of higher education, primarily in the areas of accounting, tax and general business. Ernst & Young and the Foundation have given more than $100 million to educational organizations throughout the United States. Last year, the Ernst & Young Foundation contributed more than $5 million in matching funds to higher education, matching the eligible contributions of Ernst & Young active and retired personnel.
