The University of Oklahoma United Way Campaign Kicks Off

Posted on September 21, 2009.

The United Way is coming to the University of Oklahoma this Tuesday, Sept. 22! The OU Campus Campaign, for the first time, is being co-chaired by Joe Castiglione, OU athletic director, and Ken Evans, Price College of Business dean. This unique partnership will bring the strength of the athletic program and the business college together for this year’s United Way OU Campus Campaign.

The United Way of Norman’s mission is to unite and focus our community resources to address human needs. Every dollar raised by students, staff and faculty as part of the OU Campus Campaign will stay in the Norman area. This year those that give will be able to choose overarching areas to which their donations will be applied such as women services, child services or others in the community.

The OU Campus Campaign begins on Sept. 22 and runs through Nov. 6. During this time faculty and staff will receive information from their United Way volunteer staff member in their division. They will also receive throughout the campaign personal, local testimonials about exactly how donations have affected Norman citizen’s lives.

“OU has always been a significant partner with the United Way,” says Dean Ken Evans. “Joe and I are pleased to provide our support in hopefully making this year a successful campaign both for the campus as well as for the Norman community. Clearly these economic times make it particularly important to provide the resources for the United Way and its agencies to service the needs of the Norman area.”

The theme this year is “One Dream, One Team” which encompasses the dreams that can come true through the United Way of Norman and the OU campus “team” to participate in giving during the campaign.

Ranked in the top 5 percent of all U.S. undergraduate business schools based on recent ranking data, the Price College of Business is one of the nation’s premier business colleges.
