Transnationalism and Minority Cultures Conference

The Transnationalism and Minority Cultures conference hosted by the OU History department will open with a keynote lecture by Jonathan Holloway.

On Thursday September 26th, 2013, the “Transnationalism and Minority Cultures” (Mid-America) conference hosted by the University of Oklahoma’s History department will open with a keynote lecture at OCCE by Jonathan Holloway, Professor of History and African-American Studies at Yale University (reception 6.00pm, lecture 7.00pm).

On the evening of Friday September 27th, Shari Huhndorf, Professor of Ethnic Studies and Native American Studies at the University of California Berkeley will present the conference’s second keynote address at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art (reception 6.30pm; lecture 7.30pm).

Both keynote speakers are renowned scholars whose respective research relates the history of minority cultures in the U.S. to broader transnational processes in migration, advocacy, civil rights, politics, and cultural and artistic production. Multiple conference sessions on the topics of transnational studies and global m inority cultures run Friday September 27th through Saturday September 28th at OCCE.
