CMS Implementation. The backbone of our web initiative is the Content Management System (CMS). The framework is currently being implemented and customized to suit The University's needs. Benefits of the CMS include the ability to edit and publish web pages, update content without prior HTML knowledge, manage a media library, and much more.
When can I expect our site to be migrated into the CMS?The first site will be migrated into the CMS around the beginning of November 2007. When it goes live, we'll post the link here. After our first few migrations and additional planning, we'll have a better understanding of timelines. At that point, we'll more post information on
http://www.ou.edu/webcomm/.
Will our new or existing site design work with the CMS?Each page migrated into the CMS will be created in a template wireframe. However, these templates are not finalized. If you're ready to redesign, please schedule some time to discuss required elements with the Web Communications office. We'll also have a style guide available in late Fall 2007, which will help you design your site within the template requirements. This will ensure that when a site is ready to migrate into the CMS, there is no need to redesign again to fit within the requirements.
If you need assistance creating a design to match the OU brand or Information Architecture for your site, please contact
webcomm@ou.edu. If necessary, we will refer you to an outside vendor.
