What WEC Can Do For You
The WEC team is happy to help faculty with projects on any scale related to the teaching of writing in their classes. This includes:
- Consulting with individual instructors to develop writing pedagogy or assignments for a particular course
- Working with groups of faculty to develop writing instruction across a particular course sequence within their major
- Working with departments to create writing instruction plans for entire degree programs
- Helping faculty identify resources for specific aspects of writing instruction (e.g. creating online portfolios, working with ELL writers)
- Surveying students, faculty, and professional affiliates to determine the role of writing within a discipline or degree program
- Gathering data about teaching and writing practices at peer institutions
- Helping to train faculty and graduate assistants in new instructional and assessment methods
We encourage any faculty members who have expressed frustration at the amount or quality of their students’ writing to contact us and see if we can help.
