Nominated for the 2010 German Book Award, The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cuisine (Europa Editions, May 2011) tells the story of Tartar matriarch Rosa's determination to secure a better life for her granddaughter, Aminat. The quest results in three generations of women leaving Russia and relocating in Berlin after Aminat catches the eye of a sleazy German cookbook writer researching Tartar cuisine.

This is Alina Bronsky's second novel, following her debut, Broken Glass Park (2008; see WLT, May 2009, 60), which Europa Editions published in English in 2010.
