What is World Literature Today?
The award-winning WLT was founded at OU in 1927 as an academic journal and over its 78 years has grown to be one of the premier literary magazines in the world. In the last five years, WLT has also become the first university-based journal to broaden its appeal to a readership outside of but still including readers in the academy. With a base of library subscribers, WLT is now also a major window to the world in bookstores in every state and for academic and general readers everywhere.

Isn’t World Literature Today more than a magazine?
WLT has also become a vibrant humanities center for OU students. Working with an average of 1500 undergraduates and graduate students a year, WLT sponsors the WLT Book Club, numerous credit courses, a Student Advisory Board, Neustadt and Puterbaugh Student Fellowships, student research grants, usually two literary conferences a year, WLT 2 and Windmill, two student publications, Lynx, a student-run arts and culture calendar, and a large student internship program.

What do WLT interns learn?
WLT interns gain valuable practical experience in manuscript editing, the printing process, event planning, marketing and promotion, magazine design, and internet and library research. Interns can assume even greater responsibility working with WLT’s student magazines WLT2 and Windmill, and they can help to host internationally-prominent authors. Interns participate in WLT’s literary and cultural events and meet with OU’s Provost, President, and other prominent publishing professionals in Oklahoma.

Are WLT internships voluntary or paid?
WLT student internships are voluntary (non-paid), but schedules are flexible and can be as few as two hours a week or as many as twenty. On occasion, WLT employs interns in Work Study positions.

How do I apply for a WLT internship?
