Dissertation & Thesis Support Groups
One of the unique ways we support graduate students is through writing groups that meet weekly to support those writing their dissertations or theses. These groups form as graduate students express their desire to us to be a part of such a group. Each week, the groups workshop portions of participants’ work, giving feedback, providing encouragement and accountability. If you would like to be a part of such a support group, please contact Staci Oliver (stacioliver@ou.edu).
Camp Completion
Camp Completion is a new program sponsored by the
OU Writing Center. Our experienced consultants will lead
participants through three days of work on planning their writing steps
for the summer of 2009. In addition, we will facilitate special
topics such as time management, wellness, conflict resolution and
negotiation with advisors/committee members, and mapping a strategy for
completion. There will be sessions focused on disciplinary
writing conventions as well as discussion on developing an academic
voice as part of building your repertoire as a writer. We welcome
international students and students who bring diverse abilities and
experiences.

Writing Fellows
Writing Fellows are advanced graduate
students who work with departments and individual faculty. A
Writing Fellow is sometimes assigned to a department, or works with
individual faculty in their classes, to develop writing-to-earn
activities, refine writing assignment prompts, facilitate peer review
for student groups, and provide writing consulting and feedback to
student writers. For more information about these positions, click here:

If you are interested in becoming a Writing Fellow, please contact Staci Oliver (stacioliver@ou.edu).
