“I’m so grateful for the time I spent at OU because it exposed a big world of opportunity. I hope you come join our family and love OU as much as I do. “

I hope you’re ready to say “Yes!” to joining our family at the University of Oklahoma! I remember when I was in your same position in high school. As a senior at Booker T. Washington in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I had questions about where I wanted to attend college. Fast forward to today, and I can easily say that the best decision I made was to become a Sooner. I’m now the Vice President of Marketing and Communication at Gathering Place, and I’m thankful that OU provided me with these experiences and life lessons.

  1. I learned how to be a leader. I joined campus organizations that taught me how to manage groups of people and oversee large projects, which gave me the confidence to find my voice, speak up, and help nurture my peers around me.

  2. I met my best friends in various campus groups, my sorority, my classes, and my freshman dorm. I also connect with current journalism students and alumni in my profession daily.

  3. I received the greatest support from OU staff and professors in my professional development. They want you to be as successful as you can be in college and in your future career, so they go above and beyond to help you achieve your goals.

  4. OU welcomed me with open arms. It was scary to move away from home, and it was hard to say goodbye to my family. OU quickly became my home away from home, especially with the special welcome events for freshmen and ongoing opportunities to meet new people. I encourage you to attend these events so you can experience different cultural programming, engage in campus life, and make new friends.

  5. OU provides the keys to explore the world. I spent one of my senior semesters interning at Vogue magazine in New York City, and after college, I joined National Geographic in Washington, D.C., where it became my career to travel the world and share stories about fascinating places and cultures.

I’m so grateful for the time I spent at OU because it gave me access to the world and to new opportunities and experiences. I hope you come join our family and love OU as much as I do.

Boomer Sooner!
