It's Football Time in Oklahoma!

The start of a fall semester at the University of Oklahoma brings with it the return of students to campus, anticipation of cooler weather, and, of course, football season!

With kickoff less than two weeks away, excitement is building for one of the most popular ways to spend a Saturday in Norman – cheering on the Sooners on the gridiron. OU, ranked No. 5 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, opens the 2018 season by hosting Florida Atlantic at 11 a.m. CT on Sept. 1 on FOX.

The Sooners look to continue the momentum of a 2017 campaign that saw them win a third straight Big 12 title and make their second College Football Playoff appearance in the last three seasons.

OU returns 12 starters from last year, six on both offense and defense, and is the preseason pick to win the Big 12 Conference yet again. Additionally, a league-high seven players earned spots on the 2018 Preseason All-Big 12 Team.

A key storyline to keep an eye on is who will replace Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield at the helm of the offense as redshirt junior Kyler Murray and redshirt sophomore Austin Kendall are both vying for the starting quarterback position.

"It's a year-to-year deal,” second-year head coach Lincoln Riley said at Big 12 Media Day. "We've tried to build this team and take whatever lessons from last year that could help us, but this is a new team with new players and new leaders and we've got to approach it that way."

Football and other OU athletics events are a great place to experience being part of the Sooner family. Once you arrive on campus, you too can be part of the more than 86,000 people inside Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on fall Saturdays. Season tickets for new students (freshmen or transfers) who have not previously attended OU go on sale each August through a lottery.
