A&E Services Projects

The total estimated cost of current capital projects managed by Architectural and Engineering Services as of June 30, 2015 is $1.28 billion for projects on all three campuses.

  • Projects totaling $333 million are under construction
  • Projects totaling $528 million are in planning and design, and
  • Projects totaling $421 million are pending

Norman Campus Projects

Since 1995 the gross area of Norman Campus buildings has seen a net increase of approximately 45%.

Since 1995, Norman Campus construction projects totaling approximately $1.3 billion have been completed, and include the following new facilities and major renovations:

  • Student housing and dining halls, new facilities and renovation and life safety improvements - $233 million
  • S. J. Sarkeys Complex, Huston Huffman Center (student wellness and fitness  facility), improvements and addition - $9.3 million
  • Devon Energy Hall and Rawl Engineering Practice Facility for the College of Engineering, including a new clean room research facility - $45.2 million
  • Reynolds Performing Arts Center - $19.4 million
  • Catlett Music Center, Phase II - $13.6 million
  • Gaylord Hall for the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication - $36.9 million
  • Wagner Student Academic Services Center - $12.4 million
  • Bizzell Memorial Library, renovation to create- $6.6 million
  • Bizzell Memorial Library, renovation for curating and display of Special Collections-$3 million
  • Gould Hall for the College of Architecture - $33.5 million
  • Collings Hall Addition and Renovation for the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education - $10 million
  • Zarrow Hall for the School of Social Work - $11.4 million
  • Sarkeys Energy Center, renovation for the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy - $10 million
  • Coats Hall, major addition and renovation for the College of Law - $18 million
  • Hester Hall, renovation for the College of International Studies - $13.5 million
  • Nielsen Hall, additions and renovation for the Department of Physics and Astronomy - $14.4 million
  • Oklahoma Memorial Union, additions and renovations - $26.4 million
  • Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (multiple expansion and improvements projects) - $133 million
  • Lloyd Noble Center arena, expansion and improvements - $20 million
  • McCasland Field House, addition and improvements - $12.8 million
  • Everest Indoor Training Center - $12 million
  • Athletics facilities, including new and expanded and improved facilities for varsity Track and Field, Golf, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Soccer, Rowing and Gymnastics - $39.5 million
  • Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, The Mary and Howard Lester Wing and The Stuart Wing - $27.4 million
  • Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History - $50 million
  • Utility Plant No. 4 - $73 million

Major new academic and research facilities have been constructed on OU’s 250-acre Research Campus in Norman, including:

  • Stephenson Life Sciences Research Center, providing state-of-the art research laboratory facilities for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry - $76 million
  • Stephenson Research and Technology Center - $27 million
  • National Weather Center, housing OU’s academic and research programs in meteorology and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Norman-based weather, research and operations programs - $67 million
  • Radar Innovations Laboratory - $15.8 million
  • Multi-tenant facilities where private sector entities can participate in the academic life of the University through collaborative research agreements and by providing opportunities for students - $102.3 million.

Health Sciences Center Projects

At the Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City and the Schusterman Center in Tulsa, over $495 million in capital projects have been completed since 1995.  Major new facilities and renovations completed at the Health Sciences Center include:

  • Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center - $133.6 million
  • College of Allied Health Building - $26.6 million
  • Dental Clinical Sciences Building, curriculum and patient delivery systems redesign- $13.6 million
  • David L. Boren Student Union - $5 million
  • Biomedical Research Center, Phases I and II - $63 million
  • Basic Sciences Education Building renovations - $9.6 million
  • Enterprise Tier 2+ Data Center - $11.5 million

OU-Tulsa Campus Projects

New facilities constructed for OU-Tulsa at the Schusterman Center campus include:

  • Schusterman Center Library - $8.8 million
  • Schusterman Center Learning Center - $16.5 million
  • Schusterman Research and Medical Clinic, which also houses satellite facilities of both the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center and the Stephenson Cancer Center - $45.7 million
  • Wayman Tisdale Specialty Health Clinic (located in north Tulsa) - $18.7 million
