With the mission to foster the insights, technical skills, and advanced training in geospatial technologies, the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences and the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oklahoma offer the online Master of Science in Geospatial Technology* program. Representing the intersection of geography and technology, the program's curriculum was specifically designed to provide students with the theoretical and practical geospatial technology skills needed to advance in this rapidly growing field of study. *The full name of the degree program is online Master of Science in Geography and Environmental Sustainability with a concentration in Geospatial Technologies. Graduates of the program will receive a Master of Science in Geography and Environmental Sustainability diploma.

How to Apply

Admission to the online M.S. in Geospatial Technologies program is selective. To apply, please follow the following process: 

1.     Complete Online Application

2.     Submit Additional Documents

  • Resume
  • Official transcripts from your last degree-granting institution
  • Statement that includes short responses (400 words per question) to the following three questions
    1. Why does the Geospatial Technologies degree interest you and what do you hope to accomplish by obtaining the degree?
    2. What are your top three educational goals while in the Geospatial Technologies degree?
    3. Going forward, what are your career goals and how will the program help achieve them?

3.     Provide one or more of the following:

  • GRE score
  • Reference letter
  • Written paper or report from the past three years
  • Portfolio of past GIS work (if applicable)

Admissions Timeline

The online M.S. in Geospatial Technologies admissions committee operates under a rolling admission process. Once the Office of Graduate Admissions has received all required application materials and evaluated transcripts, the committee will strive to respond to applicants within one week.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition

Tuition for the online Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies is $32,505* (33 credit hours at $985 per credit hour). Fees associated with the program are included in this cost. Books and materials are additional.

Once accepted into the program, students are required to submit a $350 non-refundable deposit. This deposit will be applied to your first semester’s tuition, provided you enroll in the program and start with your designated cohort class.
