Interests and Hobbies:

  • Cooking new dishes.
  • Hiking.

Top Life Defining Moments in Higher Education:
 
  • Being encouraged to pursue graduate school by a professor that I really admired and respected (in my freshman year!)
  • Receiving the Gilman scholarship to study abroad in Tanzania.
  • Becoming a McNair Scholar and embracing my first-generation identity. Having the courage to accept UCLA's offer of admission and move across the country to pursue a graduate program.

While in college, I experienced:

  • Balancing work and school.
  • Financial Stress.
  • Being a first-generation college student.
  • Overcoming daily challenges through resiliency.
  • Other- Grappling with the oppressive structures of racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia that arise in daily life.
