The ASC held its January meeting on Tuesday the 8th at 10:30 a.m. in McCarter Hall Room 100. Jeralyn Woodall, Assistant Vice President & Chief Talent Officer, Information Technology, was our guest speaker and she spoke with our group about the new computer standardization program for all campuses. We had a robust question and answer session about the program and its implications and impact across campuses. The ASC held its November meeting on Tuesday the 13th at 10:30 a.m. in Bizzell Library Room LL108. We had two representatives from OU’s Institutional Research and Reporting Office give a presentation about the mission and purpose of IRR and all the resources available to staff. You can find more resources and their contact information on their website: https://www.ou.edu/irr. The group also discussed the recent reduction in force at the University. Contrary to some of the reports, the University did follow the Staff Handbook Policy and central HR along with OU Career Services are providing numerous services to the impacted staff to help make their transition easier.
The ASC held its October meeting on Tuesday the 9th at 10:30 a.m. in McCarter Hall Room 100. We had two representatives from OU’s Disability Resource Center give a presentation about electronic and digital accessibility requirements for OU departments, faculty, and staff when creating and providing digital materials. The DRC is in the process of creating online trainings for faculty and staff on how to create accessible electronic and digital communications and materials. The DRC staff are available to review any materials prior to release or to answer any questions. You can find more resources and their contact information on their website: www.ou.edu/drc. The group also discussed the upcoming 2019 Benefits Enrollment which is being held October 29 to November 9, 2018. The ASC held its September meeting on Tuesday the 11th at 10:30 a.m. in McCarter Hall Room 100. We began by introducing our new officers for 2018-2019: Patrick McClain (President), Darcy Adams Maelzer (Vice-President), Karen Sturtz (Secretary), and David Corbly (Proxy). This academic year (2018-2019), we will hold our meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Erin Yarbrough, Interim Vice President for Public Affairs, was our guest speaker and gave an overview of the new, university-wide, publication review process followed by a question and answer session. After the conclusion of our meeting, we took a tour of the new Cross complex on Asp Ave. Our next meeting is October 9, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.
