Speaker's Office

Visit a piece of Oklahoma history!

Did you know that it is possible to visit a recreation of Speaker Carl Albert's office on campus? The Carl Albert Center maintains an office exhibit that includes furniture and decorations from the three offices Albert used while Speaker of the House.

Speaker Albert used his private office for more personal meetings with colleagues, constituents, and the occasional dignitary, like Queen Elizabeth II. As Speaker, he also had the use of a Press Office and Room H-128. Albert held press conferences and photo opportunities in the Press Office, as well as larger meetings like when President Tito visited. Room H-128 is assigned to the Speaker of the House to use as they choose. Past Speakers generally used the room to discuss strategy and policies with the leadership of their respective parties.
