Yanrong Qi, instructor in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics at University of Oklahoma. She received a master degree in teaching Chinese as a second language from Nanjing University and also taught Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University for five years before she came to America in 1999.

Prior to joining the OU faculty, she was an instructor of Chinese language at Harvard University for two years and at the University of Maryland at College Park for four years. Since 1999, she has also taught Chinese language in the summer programs of Middlebury College, McGill University and George Mason University. She has constructed and revised course curriculum for multiple levels of instruction and worked as an academic advisor for Chinese majors.

She was awarded the university-wide first rank Teaching Fellowship for young Scholars in 1996 from Beijing Language and Culture University. She earned Harvard University’s Excellence in Teaching Award in fall 1999, spring 2000, fall 2000, and spring 2001. She was awarded Junior Faculty Summer Fellowship, College of Arts and Science, University of Oklahoma in 2006 and Curriculum Development Grant for summer 2010, Institute for US-China Issues, University of Oklahoma.

In addition to her career in language teaching, she also has written and published academic articles about Chinese language teaching and learning.
