Profile:
Bo Liu is from Xi’an, China and he is a graduate teaching assistant for the Chinese language in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum (ILAC) with a concentration in World Languages Education at the University of Oklahoma. He received his Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in 2019 at OU. He graduated from Xi’an International Studies University with a Bachelor’s in English Literature and Education in 2018. He was an exchange student in the English Education Program at OU in 2017. Prior to teaching Chinese language courses at OU, Mr. Liu taught Chinese to students from different age levels and taught English to international students in the United States. He worked as an adjunct Chinese instructor at Oklahoma City University for two years. He also worked as a graduate writing consultant at the OU Writing Center for two years and as a research assistant at the College of Education at OU.
As a Ph.D. candidate, he is working on his dissertation, "What Sustains Chinese Learning Motivation: A Case Study of Midwestern American High School Students." His research interests focus on Chinese learning motivation, second language acquisition, self-determination theory, diversity perspectives in teaching foreign languages, and teaching foreign languages and cultures with technology.
He is currently teaching two Chinese courses at OU: CHIN 1115 Beginning Chinese and CHIN 2113 Intermediate Chinese. He will teach CHIN 1225 Beginning Chinese (Continued) in Spring 2022.
