Science Education

Research interests:
My primary responsibility at OU is to teach nonmajors biology. I also occasionally teach mycology and a scientific writing course (BioWriting). Most of my publications focus on techniques for teaching introductory biology and the use of technology in the classroom. In addition, my work as a textbook author for McGraw-Hill complements my role as a teacher. I have two textbook projects, each addressing the needs of a different audience of non-biology majors. I am proud to say that I have actively enlisted the help of our talented OU students in an effort to make sure the narrative and illustrations are appealing and understandable to beginners, not just experts.
