60 Hour Program
Students in the 60 hours program come from a wide variety of backgrounds, no BSW is required. It can be completed full time in two years or part time in three or four. The first thirty hours, called the foundation coursework, are general, foundation level social work courses. This coursework is the same for all students.
After completing the first thirty hours of the program, students select their concentration and move into the concentration curriculum. The concentration curriculum makes up the remaining thirty hours. At OU, we offer two concentrations: Direct Practice and Administration and Community Practice (read more about them here). The courses in the concentration curriculum vary depending on which concentration is chosen.
60 Hour Program, Part Time
The part time MSW program can be completed in three or four years depending on what the student wishes. It is designed for students who need to work or have other commitments while going to school. In the part time program, the foundation coursework is the first two years. The third year begins the concentration curriculum. If the student chooses to complete the program in three years, the third year will look more like a full-time year. If the student chooses to complete the program in four years, the last two years will continue at the part-time pace. For more on the part time program, please view the video and the foundation degree sheet.
60 Hour Program, Full Time
The full time program is done in two years. The first year is the foundation curriculum and the second is the concentration curriculum. The full time program is very full time. It is designed for students who wish to make school their primary focus. For more information on the full time program, please view the video and the foundation degree sheet.
