We determine neuromuscular adjustments during human movement in health and disease. More specifically, our lab uses a variety of non-invasive techniques to identify ascending and descending pathways responsible for the modulation of motor neuron activity in various populations (healthy aging, diseases such as osteoarthritis and sport injuries such as ankle sprain, shoulder instability and anterior cruciate ligament injuries). Ultimately we intend to apply these findings to enhance athletic performance or improve functional capacity and quality of life in young and older individuals. Current research topics include:

• Impact of stress on motor performance

• Effects of cycles of ischemia and reperfusion on exercise-induced fatigability

• Age and sex differences during exercise
