Internet Navigator...  A Simplified Guide to Netscape GOLD

What is a Web Server?

Information is accessed from "powerful" computers called Servers. A Web Server provides that necessary electronic link with your Web Browser.

Internet Service Providors are the Server "keepers". They allow you to use their server for a fee. Usually you have a place for a homepage, and access to an e-mail account.

The Server WebStudy uses is part of the University of Oklahoma, Continuing Education.

A server is not a huge "super computers", but more probably..., a series of 166 mhz Pentium Computers working together.

Essentially, a Web Server is any computer that is configured to "Serve Up" Web Pages by way of the Internet.
