Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE)


The Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers is a professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. The institute was founded in 1948 and was called the American Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers until 1981, when the name was changed to reflect its international membership base.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) is the world's leading professional organization to advance manufacturing knowledge. Human Factors and Ergonomics Society


Members of the OU student chapter of the HFES are interested in the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning human factors and ergonomics and represent diverse disciplines across campus that include industrial engineering, psychology, computer science, and occupational therapy.

INFORMS serves the scientific and professional needs of operations research and management science investigators, scientists, students, educators, and managers. INFORMS also serves as a focal point for OR/MS professionals, permitting them to communicate with each other and to reach out to other professional societies and the varied clientele of the profession's research and practice.
