OGS Lecture

The Oklahoma Geological Survey, in the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy, is a state agency focused on research and public service. The Survey is chartered in the Oklahoma Constitution and is charged with investigating the state’s land, water, mineral and energy resources and with disseminating the results of those investigations to promote the wise use of Oklahoma’s natural resources consistent with sound environmental practices. Dr. G. Randy Keller, Director of the Survey, is a professor of geophysics in the ConocoPhillips School of Geology and Geophysics.

Karcher Collection

The J.C. Karcher Collection finds a new home
Formerly housed in the Society of Exploration Geophysicists' museum in Tulsa, the J.C. Karcher collection has found a new home in the Mewbourne College. A significant amount of the museum's collections are on display and available for public viewing on the first floor of the in the north corridor of Sarkeys Energy Center building. These items include a significant collection of material from J. C. Karcher, who is credited with leading the effort that invented reflection seismology. These items will be placed in a new display in the atrium devoted to solely to Dr. Karcher.
