The University of Oklahoma Invites College-Bound Veterans to Apply for 2015 Academic Bootcamp
The Warrior Scholar Project (WSP) originally launched at Yale University with nine participants in 2012. After successfully expanding to Harvard University and the University of Michigan in 2013-2014, WSP is making a significant leap forward in 2015, opening up pilot programs at eight new universities – including the University of Oklahoma as a site, August 1-9, 2015.
"How can I possibly succeed in college after such a long absence from academia?” said Nathan Ferraro, Program Director for the WSP at the University of Oklahoma, and a civil engineering graduate student at OU with a cumulative 4.0 GPA. “This mindset cripples most veterans, and I was no exception. But after overcoming this hurdle, I found higher education to be the most challenging and rewarding venture I have ever undertaken. Let the Warrior-Scholar Project help you get over that hurdle."
Qualified veterans and transitioning service members can apply for a spot in the program through the 2015 Warrior-Scholar Project Application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and students may be asked to complete an additional phone interview.
