A Longitudinal Study of Head Start Teacher Turnover Trends and Factors

Dr. Kwon Serve As an Associate Editor of the AERA

Congratulations to Professor Kyong-Ah Kwon on her recently published studies in Early Childhood Research Quarterly and Teaching and Teacher Education titled, "Within-year Teacher Turnover and Children's Development Outcomes in Early Head Start and Head Start Programs in the post-COVID-19 era" and "A longitudinal study of Head Start teacher turnover trends and factors." One study found that teacher turnover negatively affects young children’s social-emotional development—especially for infants and toddlers—highlighting the importance ofstability while the other uses 15 years of data to show how turnover has changed over time and identifies individual- and classroom-level factors associated with those patterns.
