Interview Reflections

As soon as possible, find a quiet place to reflect on your interview.  Use this set of questions as a guide for writing up your first impressions of the interview.  Answer on a separate paper.  You will need to submit these reflections and the notes you took during the interview with your OU Profile essay.

1. Describe where the interview took place.  Are there any interesting details in this place that could enliven your report? Use the techniques of naming, detailing, and sensory detail to build this description.

2. Describe the person you interviewed.  Use naming and detailing to help you write a vivid description.  Include description of the expert’s body language and movements.

3. What did you learn about the person’s background?

4. What are you immediate impressions about the person?

5. What surprising facts about your OU Profile topic did you uncover in this interview?

6. What interesting phrases, terms, or expressions did the person you interviewed use?

7. Where else did this person suggest you could find information for your OU Profile essay?

8. How did the interview change your attitude or understanding about your OU Profile topic?

9. What questions do you have about your topic that are still unanswered?

10. What do you wish you had done differently during this interview?

11. What else do you remember about the interview?
