A good OU Profile essay:
Section 004
1. has a clear thesis statement.
2. has lots of accurate information including possibly: a map,
e-mail addresses, names of contact people, procedures, schedules, advice,
cost, website addresses, phone numbers, history, and future plans.
3. has an introduction that includes the thesis statement, has a clear
focus, and attracts the readers.
4. addresses the audience appropriately.
5. has a credible, believable, reliable author.
6. has vivid, complete descriptions of people and/or atmosphere.
7. uses language that the audience will understand.
8. has paragraphs that all support the thesis statement.
9. is well-organized.
10. shares the author's point-of-view on the topic.
11. has a conclusion that doesn't introduce new ideas
12. doesn't have too much information that would overwhelm the
readers.
13. includes other points-of-view on the topic.
14. documents all sources in a Works Cited page at the end of the essay.
A good OU Profile essay:

2. has a logical order or plan that is easy for readers to follow.
3. has lots of accurate information including: dedications, history,
maps, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail, website, room numbers, location,
environmental topics, security, food, advice, cost, and rules.
4. has an introduction that focuses on the subject, establishes a foundation
for the reader, and is a good starting point for the essay.
5. avoids repetition of ideas.
6. considers the needs of prospective student readers very carefully.
7. has a subject that is appropriate for the readers.
8. develops the thesis statement

10. uses good resources.
11. has a good conclusion that may summarize the essay, prove the thesis
statement, match the introduction, and is not too long.
12. is not boring--it has the right amount of information.
