A Message from the Westheimer Family
Distinguished Visiting Artist Program Postponed to Spring 2022
In 2004, the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art received a generous endowment from Jerome M. and Wanda Otey Westheimer supporting the establishment of a biennial Distinguished Visiting Artist Chair and Exhibition. The program made its debut the following year and in alternating years ever since. Due to the uncertainties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the Museum and the Westheimer family have jointly concluded that it was in the best interest of all concerned to postpone the DVA chair and exhibition from Fall 2021 to Spring 2022. The safety and protection of Museum visitors and staff remains paramount and we continue to urge all to wear masks, practice socially distancing and avoid large groups and confined spaces.
We are open and excited to welcome you back to the museum!
University of Oklahoma officials have announced several rules to keep all faculty, staff, students, and visitors safe while visiting the Norman campus. Therefore, all museum visitors must wear a mask and maintain a social distance of 6 feet from staff and other visitors. We have installed a number of hand sanitizer stations in the museum for the public's use. To learn more about what we are doing to keep our visitors safe, click the link to read our safety guidelines.
