Cross Section of Contemporary Art

Thirty-five paintings, drawings and prints present a capsule view of the most important styles in current American art. Styles included range from abstract hard-edge and tradition realism to recent Pop and Op. Among the artists represented are Albers, Anuszkiewicz, Avery, Blaine, de Niro, Guston, Hartigan, Johns, Katz, Lichetenstein, Marcus, Ortman, Porter, Rauschenberg, Stella and Warhol. The exhibition was selected by Samuel Wagstaff Jr., Curator of the Wadsworth Antheneum, Hartford, and is circulated by the American Federation of Arts.
