January 4 – 25
A survey exhibition of the crafts of Southern California, circulated under the auspices of the Western Association of Art Museums and originated by the Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach, California. Some 50 works—ceramics, enamels, jewelry, silver and hollow work, textiles and embroideries—have been included in this exhibition. With these works, for the purpose of comparison, will be photographs of ancient pieces. Ralph Altman of the Art Department of the University of California in Los Angeles, Thomas Ferreia of the Art Department at Long Beach State College, and Miss Dextra Frankel, a leading designer-craftsman of the area, acted as an advisory committee to select the contemporary and historical art.
