For Staff and Faculty
How to Get Yourself Support
OU Advocates is not only a student resource; we assist faculty and staff members and help you navigate services. We are here to support you.
Your Role as a Mandatory Employee
As a University employee, faculty and staff are required by law to promptly report possible violations of the Sexual Misconduct, Discrimination, and Harassment Policy to the Sexual Misconduct Office at (405) 325-2215 or through an online form found at www.ou.edu/eoo.
What Happens After a Report is Submitted
After you submit a report, someone from Institutional Equity Office will reach out to the student in an email. They will provide the student with reporting options and other resources such as OU Advocates to support the student. The student is not required to respond to the email; it is completely up to them to follow-up on the email. If the student does not want an investigation, the Sexual Misconduct Office can usually respect the student’s decision, unless there are safety concerns for the student or campus.
Referring a Student to OU Advocates
If you find a student might benefit from OU Advocates and our services, please reach out to the student and ask if they would like an advocate. It is completely up to the student if they prefer you calling to set up the initial meeting or they can also call us.
If you would like some OU Advocate business cards, please contact gec@ou.edu or stop by our office.
